Vitamin B Complex

The B vitamins are water-soluble vitamins and cannot be stored in the body. Any surplus is excreted in the urine. Humans are therefore dependent on a regular exogenous supply. The group of B vitamins includes eight vitamins: B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B7, B9 and B12. Their tasks are diverse and complex. Vitamin B12 plays a special role, as it can be absorbed almost exclusively through animal foods. The vitamins of the B group are important in connection with hormone formation, they influence blood circulation, are involved in carbohydrate, protein and fat metabolism and contribute to blood formation and healthy nerve function.

Glutathione

Glutathione is a sulfur-containing tripeptide of glutamic acid, glycine, and cysteine. It is formed in the liver and is a major water-soluble cellular antioxidant and an important enzyme cofactor. Glutathione is present in every cell of the body. Glutathione is involved in many metabolic processes.

It protects the tertiary structure of proteins, promotes the transport of amino acids across cell membranes, and plays a prominent role in the antioxidant protection system. As a co-substrate of glutathione peroxidase, it detoxifies the peroxides that inevitably occur in the body and are increasingly formed during oxidative stress.

It represents the decisive protection of cell and mitochondrial membranes against damage by reactive oxygen species (oxidative stress). Furthermore, glutathione is involved in converting oxidized and thus ineffective vitamins C and E back into their reduced form of action. It also helps immune cells to produce leukotrienes, which are produced during infections, and control the functions of leukocytes in immune defense reactions.
