Possible ingredients
B complex
B vitamins are water-soluble and cannot be stored in the body; any excess is excreted in the urine, so we depend on a regular supply. The B group comprises eight vitamins: B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B7, B9 and B12. Their tasks are varied and complex. Vitamin B12 plays a special role because it is found almost exclusively in animal foods. B vitamins are important for hormone production, influence blood circulation, are involved in carbohydrate, protein and fat metabolism and contribute to blood formation and healthy nerve function.
Sodium chloride (NaCl)
Salt, i.e. sodium chloride (NaCl), is vital for the human body. Table salt is the main source of sodium and chloride, which are essential for fluid balance, the nervous system and blood pressure regulation. Sodium chloride protects cells from drying out and is responsible for passing on signals in nerve cells. No cell in our body could exist without salt.
Vitamin C
Vitamin C, also called ascorbic acid, is one of the best-known vitamins. It acts as a strong antioxidant and protects cells from free radicals. It also supports the normal function of the immune system, especially during and after physical exertion, and plays an important role in collagen formation – for skin, bones, teeth and blood vessels. Vitamin C is also important for energy metabolism, psychological function and the nervous system. It helps to reduce tiredness, improves iron absorption and regenerates the reduced form of vitamin E. Older people and smokers in particular should make sure they get enough, as they are more often deficient. Vitamin C is found mainly in fresh vegetables and fruit such as peppers, citrus fruit, berries and kiwis.
Magnesium
Magnesium performs vital functions in the body. It is involved in energy metabolism and muscle and nerve function, and is responsible for muscle contraction, communication between nerve cells and between nerve and muscle cells, and heart activity. The mineral also helps build bones and teeth and is essential for fat and carbohydrate metabolism. Only about 30 to 50 percent of the magnesium we take in with food each day is absorbed by the body.
Taurine
Taurine is an amino acid that plays an important role in the body, particularly in supporting heart function, muscle regeneration and stable fluid balance. It is needed in various metabolic processes and may support performance and general vitality. Taurine is known especially for its antioxidant properties and is often used to help the body balance energy and strain.
Lysine
Lysine is one of the eight essential amino acids that adults need but the body cannot produce itself, so it must come from food. The body needs lysine to build muscle and other amino acids. The essential amino acid is also involved in bone growth, cell division and wound healing. Unlike energy sources (carbohydrates and fats), amino acids contain nitrogen and can build tissue such as organs, muscles, skin and hair.
Arginine
L-arginine is a natural, protein-building amino acid used as a food supplement and as a medicine. In the body, arginine is converted into nitric oxide (NO), which widens blood vessels and plays a role in the immune system and as a neurotransmitter in the nervous system. Arginine is used, among other things, as a tonic, for cardiovascular conditions, for wound healing, to support potency and fertility and in bodybuilding. Possible side effects include gastrointestinal complaints.
Vitamin B12
Vitamin B12 (also called cobalamin) is a water-soluble vitamin involved in numerous metabolic processes – including the breakdown of fatty acids and the use of folic acid, which makes it indispensable for blood formation. As vitamin B12 occurs only in animal foods, a deficiency can develop more easily on a vegan diet. A deficiency often develops gradually and can go unnoticed for years because the body's stores empty slowly.
